Application Process

  • Applications: Georgia Weapons Carry License Applications may now be submitted online. Applicants must still visit Rabun County Probate Court to sign their application after submission, but using the online form will make your visit quicker. Please do not print an application from any other source and bring it to the Court. You must answer questions and sign the application after a deputy clerk of the Probate Court prints it and presents it to you. Please read these instructions before logging in to understand the process.
  • Warning: Applications must be done in person at the Probate Court in the county where you reside. Online forms for applications do not complete the process.
  • Application and payment: At the Probate Court, you will complete the application and consent forms for fingerprinting and background checks. Applications are accepted during regular business hours Monday - Friday from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. Please also:
    • Present valid government-issued photo ID with your street address on it
    • Pay the application fee (cashier's check, money order, or Visa/Mastercard with a convenience fee)
    • $73.25 New WCL (non-refundable)
    • $30 Renewal WCL (non-refundable)
  • Fingerprints and Background Check: After you complete the application, the deputy clerk will scan your fingerprints (if new application), capture your image for the WCL and then obtain a background check for the judge to review.
  • Obtaining the Approved License: If your license application is approved, your license will be mailed to you at the mailing address you give the Court on the application. You may receive your WCL in one to two weeks from the date you completed the application process at the Probate Court. It may take longer if you have a criminal record that needs to be reviewed. If you lose your license or it is destroyed, you must report to the Probate Court immediately to be eligible for a replacement license.
