The Rabun County Planning Commission consists of five members appointed by the Rabun County Board of Commissioners. The commission meets on the fourth Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Rabun County Courthouse.

The members for the term commencing April 1, 2014 are Bill Enloe, Douglas Bleckley, Richard Godfrey, Boyce Speed and Matt Wood.

The Planning and Zoning Office is responsible for issuing building permits, land disturbing activity permits, processing applications for rezoning, specific purpose, and variances. This office also administers Zoning, Soil Erosion, Sedimentation and Pollution Control, and Flood Damage Prevention sections of the Rabun County Code of Ordinances.

PLEASE NOTE: Effective JULY 1, 2008 pursuant to Georgia Law O.C.G.A. 43-41 Builders and General Contractors will be required to have a contractors license as issued by the State of Georgia Licensing Board in order to obtain construction permits in the State of Georgia. Some limited service and traditional specialty contractors are exempt from the licensing requirements. Actual permit applications must be submitted on original, multi-page and numbered forms obtained from this office. Review the permit instructions and requirements for plan submittal. Upon approval of plans and application, payment of the permit fees is accepted by check or money order only.
